Is Lord Mark Malloch-Brown a Lap Dog for Soros?

Mark Malloch-Brown, former UN Deputy Secretary-General and a British peer, chaired SGO Corporation Limited, which said its group was “built on” Smartmatic, from 2014 to 2020 per Companies House. He then served as president of George Soros’s Open Society Foundations from 2021 to 2024. A later company FCPA case does not name him.

He chaired the holding company SGO said was built on Smartmatic. Companies House still shows the director dates. The day George Soros’s foundations named him president, SGO said he was severing private-sector ties and stepping down as Chairman. Before that he ran UNDP and sat as UN Deputy Secretary-General. SGO announced on 25 November 2014 that Malloch-Brown would chair SGO, a venture “built on the extraordinary success of Smartmatic.” Companies House lists him as an SGO Corporation Limited director from 29 September 2014 to 4 December 2020. On 4 December 2020 OSF named him president, effective 1 January 2021. The same day SGO said he was stepping down as Chairman “to sever all ties with private-sector companies.” OSF announced on 11 March 2024 that he would step down in June 2024. The UN record shows he was UNDP Administrator (1999–2005) and Deputy Secretary-General (2006). His title was chairman of SGO, the parent company, not “Smartmatic Chair” as such.

Not verified / left out: the “stolen 2020 election” and “coup” framing; the promotion being a reward; Smartmatic hardware “comes from the CCP”; OSF programs as “fronts” for color revolutions and regime change; the 2012 London HQ move (no primary located as of the last check). These are the poster’s opinions or unproven claims. No court or official finding supports them.

Commentary: Smartmatic’s holding company one day, George Soros’s foundation the same day. That isn’t a rumor, it’s two press releases. The voting-machine chairman becomes the Soros president, and we’re supposed to call it a coincidence. Print the dates.

A Wayback Machine capture of opensocietyfoundations.org/people/mark-malloch-brown from 18 October 2016 lists him as “Global Board Member” on the “Open Society Global Board, Open Society Foundations–New York.” The bio on that page reads: “He is currently chairman of SGO and its elections division Smartmatic, a leading elections technology company.” So in 2016, OSF’s own website described him as both a Soros board member and the chairman of Smartmatic’s parent. Four years later, on 4 December 2020, OSF named him president, and SGO announced the same day that he was leaving as its chairman.

Not verified / left out: the post’s claims that SGO was the holding company for the Sequoia/Dominion sale and that the sale was meant “to remove Smartmatic from US elections” (no primary source located as of the last check). Everything in the quoted post, including the Musk, Serbia and “rendered computers useless” claims, is left out.

Commentary

Commentary: Soros’s own website said it, not some blogger: their Global Board member was “currently chairman of SGO and its elections division Smartmatic.” A voting-machine boss sitting on Soros’s board, in their own words. They didn’t hide it. They just hoped no one would read it.

On 25 November 2014, SGO published a London statement: Antonio Mugica and Lord Mark Malloch-Brown “today announce a new venture, SGO, built on the extraordinary success of Smartmatic, the world’s leading voting technology provider.” Mugica would remain Smartmatic’s CEO. “Lord Malloch-Brown will become chairman.” The statement quotes him on discovering “an elections business that could help restore faith in democracy…” Those are SGO’s words and the quote SGO attributed to him. Companies House records the appointment of George Mark Lord Malloch-Brown as a director of SGO CORPORATION LIMITED (07477910) on 29 September 2014; the officer record shows the directorship ended 4 December 2020. Companies House states it does not verify filed information. A director appointment is not, by itself, proof of share ownership. This packet does not say he owned Smartmatic, owned Dominion, or stole a U.S. election.

Open Society Foundations’ 4 December 2020 release named Mark Malloch-Brown — then a Global Board member, former UN DSG and UK minister — president effective 1 January 2021, succeeding Patrick Gaspard. George Soros’s statement said he had “known and worked closely with Mark for more than three decades… to setting up the International Crisis group together.” The same calendar day, SGO published that “As part of his commitment to sever all ties with private-sector companies, Lord Malloch-Brown is stepping down as Chairman of SGO on December 4,” listing Smartmatic among SGO companies. On 11 March 2024 OSF announced Binaifer Nowrojee as new president, “with Mark Malloch-Brown stepping down from his role in June 2024.” Those are office and exit facts. They are not a U.S. indictment in his name.

The United Nations former Deputy Secretary-General bio for Mark Malloch Brown states he served as UNDP Administrator from July 1999 to August 2005 and as Chair of the United Nations Development Group; became Chef de Cabinet to the Secretary-General in January 2005; had his DSG appointment announced 3 March 2006; and assumed the post 1 April 2006 through the end of December 2006. The longer former-DSG bio lists Economist / UNHCR / Sawyer-Miller / World Bank titles with date ranges. Those are UN office facts. Oil-for-food meeting coverage (e.g. NY Post Feb 2005) is reporting of meetings, not a finding he committed a crime.

ABS-CBN News posted the interview on its YouTube channel on June 22, 2015 (“Smartmatic denies being favored by COMELEC”). Asked about claims that Dominion Voting Systems owned the software, Smartmatic chairman Lord Mark Malloch-Brown answers (8:24–8:42): “You know, the fact is, yes, part of our technology is licensed from Dominion, but you tell me a large technology company which isn’t using in part licenses from other companies, and we have a license for the international use of that particular piece of the technology that we employ.” The interviewer then asks whether the Dominion license is live and not revoked. His reply is not clearly audible, so this site does not quote one. They are not a court finding and not as proof of 2020 U.S. tabulation. A software-license sentence about international use is not a statement that he owned Smartmatic, owned Dominion, or altered an American election.
